Construction mostly done, I finally got my BG 808s up on the celing where it belongs. Powered it up for the first time, and went off to get my manual to reconfigure it from table top to celing use. I come back, and suddenly it cuts off. There is a rapid clicking noise coming from the general area near the SMPS, and a green LED on the SMPS2+G2 flashing on and off like a strobe in time with the clicking. No fans. I powered off the machine, and went online to do some research. When I came back, I had a completely dead set. I swapped out the SMPS for a spare. That didn't put me back in business, but it at least got me past the dead set, and back to rapid clicking and strobe on the SMPS2+G2. Still no fans. My daughter was with me and asked "is there a cricket in here?", which gives a sense of what the clicking sounds like, and how fast the green LED on the SMPS2+G2 is flickering. The clicking does not start immediately on powering on, but builds in 10-15 seconds.
I gather sometimes the EHT card, or some other card, can have a problem and cause the SMPS to malfunction. One by one, I pulled each card in the back of the machine, turned it on, and checked. None of them resulted in a change. I swapped out the SMPS2+GC card for good measure. No change. Now I'm stuck. My understanding is that if it were as simple as a blown fuse on the SMPS, that I'd be back in dead set land. Very frustrating. Do you have any trouble shooting to suggest?
