WE have been messing with the front porch and width settings on the DVI cards.
The problem with the lines on the left is quite simple and many people have complained so we have been looking into it.
The problem is the width is too large. You can lower the width and front porch on your PC or scaller to correct it. OR you can send back the DVI card and we have a new firmware to correct the porch settings. The bad news is the SONY PS3 does not like any firmware’s so it over scans everything. Some HD-DVD players overscan the DVI not sure why maybe because some cheap HDTV sets have this issue. Barco units hate large width settings. Where Electrohome does not care.
The second answer to your question is 909 are ok units but they basically use the same boards the 1209s 808s uses all the op-amps are rated at 800 MHZ. They tend to be sharper because of the neck cards and tighter convergence.
2000 hours are nice sharper and brighter than your 10k tubes too.
BUT we have been experimenting with mods with the S unit in the past few weeks to really make it sharper and we think we have really found a good design.
Recently my guy said that with the new opamps and other components we are using the projector had very sharp scan lines at 1080p where with the old boards they were blurred. I noticed this too. So with the mods the 1209s can be quite good even sharper or just as sharp as the 909. The 909 have a good neck card but the back end is just as good as the 808. With the 909 units the Scan lines were not as sharp as the mods on the 1209s. However the 909 has amazing convergence system. It’s very stable and the picture has perfect geometry.
I say try our new mods that we are making now. We have been making them better and better. We tried a BETA sample of some new chips last week and the results were so amazing we are going to use them in every set. We had to order a better chip tool to remove them, as we have to change out a lot and its very time consuming.

Yes we can modify any barco projector now. Even the newest build have dated designs. We can even make the Cine9 and 909 30% sharper. See barco has not put any new development in the CRT for over 7 years now. The new opamps that are being made today are sharper and have less noise that what barco used on the 1209s 909 Cine 9 models. WE have tested and re-tested parts and found most done work but a few of them do. So we stock up on that part for the mods. Its takes a very special part to work perfectly in a barco. We when though 5000+ specs to get some replacement parts that would make an improvement.
