Mad Mr H
Many thanks to UK forum member "Baggy" who has opened my eyes to yet another page within the Nvidia setup system....

Last time Nick was here he was convinced there was a box of tricks hidden in my room and various cameras and mirrors which allowed me to trick him into seeing the "Bad Boy Barco  " produce a picture at over 200Mhz bandwidth.

I was unable to go above 1920x1200 @ 75Hz as the local ambulance service were not available and I could not risk "Death of a MOD pt2" ohmy.gif
(Death of a MOD pt1" was 1209s 180Mhz neck cards which aint gonna happen mad.gif ) (EDIT: YET)

[Micky Blue Eyes system : ON]

"So Wad der ell, letz C wad diz PJ's got unda itz hoddy!"

1440x960 @ 75Hz = 146.69Mhz
IPB Image

No messing about, next step......

1920x1080 @ 60Hz = 172.80Mhz
IPB Image

Another big step.....PJ not setup for this so bare with the blurred picture! and NO thats not soft focus due to resolution - There is nothing soft about this "Bad Boy Barco wub.gif "

Red gun only to help read it!
NOTE : ONLY MY red gun is a HI REZ tube !!!

1920x1200 @ 75Hz = 245.25Mhz
IPB Image

So thats 1200p - For the record thats past any NEW disposable digi I know of biggrin.gif

"cries of more! more! encore! heard from the crowd"

256.82Mhz 1250ish @ 75Hz

"Scream if ya wanna go faster"
268.69MHz

WARNING : people with weak hearts should NOT be here!

289.28Mhz

In Fairness to the PJ - I was shaking, thats why its fuzzy.....
Dont believe me? 1. Dont care biggrin.gif 2. whats this then.....

EXTREME WARNING : 290 barrier reached and breached. ALSO JUST noticed I still have the ROOM LIGHTS ON!!! DUH! so heres the "Bad Boy Barco wub.gif " NOT afraid of the darkside....

291.46Mhz
IPB Image

"more, you want more Sir!"

292.45Mhz thats all folks 1920x1415 @ 75Hz
Picture taken 1 foot from screen

Wide screen shot at about 4 foot from screen

Now heres the issue why I cant go on.......

Above this resolution I cant force the neg sync cos it wont hold the pos sync long enough for me to change the settings!!!

I have let the PJ down.......NOT the other way round......

The graphics card is good for 400Mhz ohmy.gif just in case you wanted to know.

"All rise the mighty Bad Boy Barco wub.gif " is in this house happy.gif

Bring on yer Quee's - lets av ya tongue.gif

Note from the sponsor : No Barco's were hurt or damaged in the making of this thread. Thanks to Nvidia for the card capable of this task. Thanks to the nutter at Barco who designed it. All tests carried out whilst Mad MR H was not really looking. NO Barco UNDER the age of 8 years old was used in this trial.
Oh! and this was switch PJ on, run quickly through the settings, switch off......
NO WARM UP period was used in these tests.

OK so last time I gave this a go I got just under 300Mhz.

I stopped there so that anyone else who wanted to "step up to the plate" and Challange the "Bay Boy Barco wub.gif " could have a real goal to aim for......

The 300Mhz crown.......A serious milestone.........

(On another forum) There is ONE member who has stepped up to the challange.....he ran his 'Quee 9500LC Mike parker modified - that IS a serious bit of kit for those that dont know....and he ran it up to 245Mhz (ish!) thats the ONLY contestant, and a very good start but still short of the original settings........

So im bored!

Guess what this is ???? biggrin.gif

IPB Image

Well, its above 292Mhz thats for sure......

Here is a hint!

IPB Image

Yep thats right 1440x960 @ 144Hz scan rate.......

I just know Nick is quickly calculating where that might be.......

So, my aim this year was to get bragging points, Have I got one yet?

Still not sure?

OK here is 1920x1400 @ 85Hz

I just wanna check what that says.......

331.87Mhz

Ok, So now I do actually have a reason for doing this........

Im going to use Gregs neck card modifications and see what the straight differance is.

Proof as always is in trying something out...........

This will take a bit of time from now but is my intention to do.......

If people are intrested we can start s colume about how to clean up the noise on port 5 for the S unit.

Bring on a Marquee to challenge this bad boy?

Sounds like fun. But I'm not yet ready to take up the challenge. SOON, though.

My weapon of choice: An MP V2 modded 9501LC which has additional mods to it. They involve, among
other things, the replacement of the stock focus yokes with a hand-modified version of the same focus
yokes that are found in the Barco 1208 and the Sony 1292.

These are NOT simply yokes that have been wired to Marquee wiring harnesses. No, these are very
special indeed. One of the internal coils has been completely rewound to a new specification,
and there have been changes made to the focus circuitry as well. I'm still testing and adjusting the
design and can't GUARANTEE success yet, but I am cautiously optimistic. I believe I will succeed.

A SIMILAR focus yoke mod that I already have tested and approved as being good to go on Marquees
that do not have electronic astig correction has already been lab tested and found to deliver a very
respectable resolution capability of 2048x2048 at a usable 11 percent MTF reading. This is the same
as running a 2048x1536 raster (which is a 4:3 aspect ratio) in 16:9 anamorphic squeeze mode.

This was done on an 8" P16LNQ green tube. The results on a 9" tube should be proportionately more
impressive still.

Please tell me what your 400 MHz capable video card is that you're using. I may opt to pick one up
in order to play on a level field in that respect.

I'd also like to find a video card that will display GREATER than 2048x1536 on the screen WITHOUT going
into windowed mode. I really can't afford to buy a new Quantumvision test pattern generator.
