Full Version: Mods for Barco 700 series

Greg,
It seems that all of your Barco mods are for the 800, 808, 1209, etc., but none for any of the 700 series, in particular for me the 708. Hey, I'd love to get my hands on a tricked out 808 or 1209, but I have the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) to deal with, so the sheer size of those projectors makes them a tough sell. Therefore, maximizing the performance of my already very nice and compact 708 would be something I'd like to pursue. Any mods for the 708 boards? I also have a buddy who'd be interested in mods for his 701s.

I sold a bunch of 701 701s 708 a wile back great picture, small unit, you can carry like a TV set.

I never looked into doing mods but we could take a look. If you can post some schematics of the input sections lets review where the issues might be. We need to see the frequency BW of the input electronics to see what we can upgrade. I can try to get some shematics posted too.

We can add a internal DVI port to the projector by removing the port 5 tray and adding the DVI socket out the back. I would need a 708 tray to see where we could do the mounting.

This model had one ES and one EM focus according to barco. One used a higher rez toshiba tube 701s and 708 but I think they were all ES focus.

Thanks Greg, I'll see if I can find schematics to post. It definitely would be nice to have a DVI port!
I think I've attached some screen shots from my 708 with a progressive signal from a Philips DVD963SA DVD player, very nice combination. If the screen shot attachements weren't successful, I'll try again.

Any news on the 700s?
I am planning to purchase a CRT projector.
But if I cannot get a 700 to accept HDMI I'll have to go for a 808.
By the way: Is it possible to get the modifications in Germany? Any experience with delivery to Europe?

Hi i have a Barco 701S i would like upgraded with a DVI input and would not mind being the tester person
just a couple of questions first would this be a replacement for the RGB input?
would i still be able to use my Barco RCVDS05 with my projector?
and how much is this mod likely to cost?
