Full Version: CRT coolant issues

Hi!

I'm having problems with CRT coolant.

In my part of the world, we just cant buy genuine crt coolant at a radiostore - that stuff simply are'nt available.

For about 7-8 months I made a mix of (pure) ethyleneglycol and glycerin (75%-25%), but the liquid are now turning unclear, causing halo effects.

Barco charges about 400$ for 3 liters - simply a rip off.

I have the option to buy a very high grade ethyleneglycol for laboratory analyze use locally - the big question here is whether I should use it pure or mix with glycerine - what do you use Greg?

Are anybody using pure ethyleneglycol with success?

Regards
Ile
For AC projector you can use propylene glycol from pharmacy, but that have wrong refracting index for LC projectors.

In A site have posted that VDC use pure laboratory grade ethyleneglycol.

I'd order genuine crt cooling fluid online, because those should have also some corrosion agent.
